But you know, for what it's worth, Last of the Mohicans, it's a good movie. I think a lot of them are. It's sort of, if you think about it, it kind of leaves the audience going, "How did all these guys It would be like a culture shock when Indians move into the city. E: This was a part of the thing that didn't get developed properly. Cause they just kind of stuck us in this little part of the field, when in the 1700s there was a thousand guys on the damn field guys getting killed, bones being broken. That's one of the nicest small towns I've ever been in. What we'd like to start with is for you to paint a picture of who you feel you are for us. I love working with everyone on it. You know .. they just did whatever they had to do. By the way, you did a play called The Cradle Will Fall. Lots of it, and we have to control it. E: No, I don't! I: Was there another person in your canoe one that wasn't scripted? I broke the cycle by not drinking and finding out what I'm NOT. If he is going to have all his hair there, then we should, too!" MP: You're welcome. I walked the streets with holes in my shoes and I stood in line at soup kitchens. I don't mind period pieces as long as it's something positive and not negative. you think, but I didn't see any women there well, a few, but there were GUYS everywhere, but no women. I: The editing in the film is a little off sometimes. Rather spontaneously, a gathering of LOTM fans has been planned. MP: Then they'll be there for future generations? You know I told everybody when this started. Was there a challenge or was it a likeable role for you? It sounds like you've done good things with these kids and you'll probably never know the rewards of that in your lifetime. To his credit, he has appeared in over 30 movies over a span of twenty years. He is of mixed race ( Inuvialuk, Chippewa - Dene and German). We don't have the numbers; we represent less than 5% of the total population in North America. You have to sit down and focus. I: I saw the movie three times and honed in on the role of Uncas. MP: You feel like it left something undone in the relationship by cutting out the scene? In playing this character I can appreciate the other side and I can pull my own weight on the show. ES: Yeah, they couldn't have two different love stories going on at once. People, Indian or otherwise, are not born to hate each other. Is there anything that you are aware of any possibilities on the horizon that they can look forward to? When Dances With Wolves came out, the whole thing, it just blew the doors wide open for period pieces about Indian people. So, that's good to see. I: Was it all shot outdoors or were there any indoor shots, i.e., like the cabin scene? How would he feel if film directors did not use native people in native roles? When you do that you really have to commit. There was a golf tournament out there. But that was a superb scene! MP: Would you describe yourself as a private person? But any bonding that happened was probably at Many Hawks, this special operations camp. What sort of career advice do you have for kids interested in acting? Yeah, they're making they're redeeming themselves. They could stand around and get suntanned. MESSAGE BOARD, STOREFRONTS! We could work out something.
